Thanks Site5! Its good to see a host that performs upgrades BEFORE the server gets overloaded. This is a huge plus imo.
GMINI03, Maybe they are doing a few servers here and there. To put 2 gig of ram in each server is a costly project. Lets hope they make it around to yours

Not an official answer but:

- Might not be required or necessary.
- Might be a legacy box which will evenually be updated, both hardware & software wise.
- Motherboard may not support the extra RAM.

I believe the RAM updates are covering the majority, if not all, of our superhosting and reseller servers.

Fair enough I suppose ... my server already has 2gb of ram.

Just wondering why this email was sent to me since the server I am on is not on the list. Was it easier to send to everyone rather then the clients affected?

Well, the majority of them, perhaps, but not all, as Ion isn't on the list (reseller). No complaints here, though, as I haven't experienced any problems and it's certainly not hurting for RAM according to the server status reports in cPanel.

I haven't been following the trouble on Skylla, unfortunately - but has it been discovered that memory usage is the problem? If not, adding more RAM to a server won't help much ;-)

They forgot to wear their anti-static wrist band and fried the whole thing... too much dragging their feet on the carpet me thinks.

Ok, so I don't know why it's still down, but I'm lurking because my sites are on traffix also.

i average about 20 clicks an hour with adsense.. how much do u think i have lost?...

no biggie..i have paid all my bills this month..

As long as this will make the server better (they are superb without the additional ram (atleast in traffix) ) i have no problem..

It's down because their adding the RAM as this notice says. That error means they shutdown the server.

Traffix seems to be almost up, so it should be fully up shortly.

Hello,

Traffix had some serious motherboard issues, which resulted in more downtime than anticipated. We've resolved the mobo issues and the machine is back online. We'll probably be swapping the motherboard tonight or tomorrow.

As for the machines being upgraded. They'll have 4 GBs total.

And machines that aren't on the list will be upgraded at a later date. This upgrade alone was $15,000.00 USD or so.

I think this will be money well spent and will remove any doubts anyone might have about site5's long term existence. Good job.

Hi, Is my Database on a different server to my site?

Hi all

I just lost my website! Thats ok because I had the email warning about 10 minutes before it went down !

10 minutes before 9.00am on a Thursday morning is a great time to drop a sever when you have uk sites!

Anyway it popped backup about 15 minutes later, but my sites can no longer connect to their databases!

Which is why I ask:
Is my Database on a different server to my site?

Would lack of memory stop the connections to the databases?

current stats.

Memory Used 78.6 %
Swap Used 72.02 %

Regards

Mike
